KATHMANDU, NEPAL – At the prestigious Asian Business Iconic Award 2025 ceremony, held on June 27 at Hotel Crystal Pashupati in Kathmandu, Nepal, Dr. Tufael was awarded one of the highest distinctions in the field: the Excellence in Medical Laboratory Science Award. The event, organized by the Asian Business Partnership Summit, brought together leading professionals from across Asia to celebrate outstanding achievements in various sectors, including healthcare.
Dr. Tufael, a distinguished biochemist at the Ibn Sina Diagnostic and Imaging Center in Dhaka and a Ph.D. graduate from Parul University, India, was honored for his pioneering research on the early diagnosis of Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) using novel biological markers. His work has significantly advanced early detection methods for liver cancer, improving diagnostic precision and offering new hope in clinical biochemistry and cancer diagnostics.
The 2025 edition of the Asian Business Iconic Award saw participation from 32 delegates across eight countries, showcasing excellence in fields ranging from healthcare and science to business innovation. Among such a diverse and competitive field, Dr. Tufael’s contributions stood out for their scientific innovation, real-world applicability, and far-reaching impact on the practice of medical laboratory science.
Dr. Tufael’s research in biomarker discovery and diagnostic test development has revolutionized laboratory practices in Bangladesh. Under his leadership, the Ibn Sina Diagnostic Center has implemented high-precision diagnostic protocols, enhancing both the speed and accuracy of patient diagnoses. His commitment to laboratory quality control and research-driven healthcare has established new standards in diagnostic medicine.
The award selection committee, led by prominent figures such as Hon. Ain Bahadur Shahi, Minister of Forest and Environment of Nepal, and several distinguished former ministers and parliamentarians, assessed nominations based on originality, scientific impact, sustainability, and long-term significance. Dr. Tufael’s work received unanimous praise for its excellence and societal relevance.
